# Troubleshooting Your Game Based Assessments

### About Game-Based Assessments

During your OnDemand interview, you may be asked to complete game-based assessments designed to showcase your abilities and skills. For the assessment to run correctly, your device must meet certain requirements.

### Known Display Issues

Some candidates experience display problems when completing these assessments, including:

- Distorted characters
- Blurry game elements
- Poor rendering of game components

These issues most commonly affect candidates using Chrome or Edge browsers on Windows devices with limited resources, due to how these browsers handle resource allocation.

### Three Solutions for Optimal Performance

To ensure you can complete your game assessments successfully without display issues, choose one of these three recommended options:

### Option 1: Use the HireVue Mobile App \(Recommended\)

**For the best mobile experience**, download the free HireVue for Candidates app:

- **iOS devices**: Available on the [App Store](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hirevue/id492573020?mt=8)
- **Android devices**: Available on the [Google Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hirevue.candidate.generic&hl=en)

This is our top recommendation for completing assessments on mobile devices, as the app is specifically optimized for these games.

### Option 2: Use Firefox or Safari Browsers

If using a computer, complete your assessments using Firefox or Safari browsers. These browsers:

- Rely more on software/browser-based resource allocation \(rather than hardware\)
- Load and display games more reliably
- Don't depend heavily on your computer's hardware specifications

### Option 3: Disable Hardware Acceleration in Chrome or Edge

If you prefer using Chrome or Edge, follow these steps to disable hardware acceleration:

1. **Access browser system settings**:
    - **Chrome**: Copy and paste chrome://settings/system into your address bar
    - **Edge**: Copy and paste edge://settings/system  into your address bar
2. **Turn off hardware acceleration**:
    - Under system settings, find "Use hardware acceleration when available."
    - Toggle this setting to the OFF position![](https://hv4-candidate-help-center.brainfish.ai/api/attachments.redirect?id=5d526159-bb98-4e0a-8c72-50690de21850)
3. **Restart your browser**:
    - Either refresh your page or completely exit and reopen your browser
    - This step is necessary for the changes to take effect

After completing these steps, you should be able to proceed with the games without experiencing blurriness or distortion.
